ViDEO GRADiNG

Obviously, these video gradings are based on recordings we have saw. Some of these recordings may be better than yours, or vice versa, this is only a general guide. However, you tend to find most people have around the same generation of recordings...

Bootleg traders all seem to have their own grading scale, which can make things quite difficult. We're no different, but hopefully ours will help you roughly understand what a particular tape is supposed to look like. The fact videos/DVD's are often transferred between different regions (PAL/NTSC etc), will obviously affect picture quality too...

* 10 - doesn't exist, that is for the video that hasnt yet been played and therefore has not been altered in any way.

* 9 - This would be used only for pre-recorded DVD & VHS, Original Promo, or TV Broadcast Tapes. Using a grading of 9 is very dangerous as it leads people to believe they are getting something straight from a master, which isn't always the case.

* 8 - This is obviously a reasonably good recording. Probably a 1st or 2nd Generation recording, with almost no noticeable disturbances, one you will watch again and again, unfortunately most tapes dont fall under this category because as soon as they have been dubbed a few times the crispness is gone, the glitches appear, etc..

* 7 - Most recordings in general will fall under this category as they all seem to have some problems. Probably 3rd/4th generation or below. Video (esp VHS) doens't hold up to more than a few generations before serious flaws appear. You should probably expect these recordings will have some problems visually and sonically. IT WILL PROBABLY NOT LOOK LIKE A NICE CLEAR TV BROADCAST! Most of the tapes in this category are still quite enjoyable to watch from time to time.

* 4-6 These have serious problems and unless you really NEED this recording avoid them at all costs, as they will greatly disappoint you

* I tend to also grade in between the levels (i.e.: 6.5, 7.5, 8.5, etc) as some are not quite to the next level but are far better than the average 7, etc.

Running Times are rounded up to the nearest minute, ie: 62.45 mins = 63 mins approx

We hope these pages can help you, but it is not meant as a trading page, these recordings are NOT available from this web site or anyone involved. There are plenty of resources on the web, and elsewhere, if that is your poison...

These pages are for information only, please respect that...
